Diabetes Type 2 Symptoms

We all know that diabetes is a killer type of disease, but the worst part about it is that, most of the time people will not recognize it until it’s already on its worst stage. Diabetes type 2 symptoms include those found in type 1 diabetes and other recurring infections or skin sores that either heals really slow or not heal at all, indiscriminate tiredness and numbness in both/or hands and feet.

Diabetes, being a wide spread disease, affects nearly 21 million people in United States alone, and the sadder part of it is that, 90 to 95% of these patients have the type 2. Also, in Canada, about 90% of all diabetes patients are in type 2.

Diabetes Type 2 SymptomsIt is usually at the age of 45 where the onset of diabetes type 2 symptoms starts to show. However, data shows that more and more young individuals are diagnosed for such disease. Symptoms for this disease develop slowly in the body, and people with such condition may not recognize its symptoms on its early stage.

Unlike in type 1, people with type 2 diabetes produce insulin, however, it is either the pancreas can’t make enough amount of insulin to control the sugar level of the body, or the body could not use the present insulin effectively (insulin resistance).

A number of genes are also involved in type 2 diabetes and study shows a strong relationship between such disease and obesity. Data shows about 80% of patients of this form of disease are significantly overweight.

Diabetes type 2 symptoms are not usually experienced by many of its patients, but can be seriously severe to people who experience them. This type of diabetes and adult-onset diabetes occurs when the body’s balance of insulin production and ability of our body’s cells to use the insulin goes wrong. Insulin is there to regulate the blood’s glucose level in our body. But in this case of diabetes, insulin cannot regulate the glucose level in blood. As a result blood glucose levels may become very high, causing blood to thicken and compromise its flow in the blood stream. This will then affect the blood’s way of distributing nutrients and oxygen to other organs in the body.

People with high sugar level in their blood will experience hyperglycemia. These symptoms may be quite similar to type 1, but can be more severe in some cases. This includes extreme and unquenchable thirst, dry lips and mouth, drowsiness, blurred vision and frequent urination.

Some may feel more symptoms that can be associated to other disease like extreme fatigue, muscle bulk and weight loss, itchiness around the sex organ, recurring thirst, cuts and sores which takes weeks to heal.

Hyperglycemia can happen from various reasons such as feeling sick, not taking enough insulin shots and eating too much.

It is indeed really important to seek medical help as early as possible when experiencing these general symptoms. If left untreated, both types of diabetes can be serious life threatening disease, as blockage in large blood vessels can lead into cardiovascular problems.
